Torque Fatigue Testing
Auction Description
TORQUE FATIGUE TEST
1. Test Procedure
a. Mounting – Mount the caliper in vehicle position with either a production knuckle with a hub and a rotor or a fixture simulating normal caliper mounting. Torque the caliper guide pin bolts, anchor bolts, bleedscrews, and inlet port fittings.
b. Pressure – Apply hydraulic pressure to the caliper sufficient to achieve the require test torque.
c. Torque – Apply torque in the forward direction (TF) and torque in the reverse direction (TR). Forward direction and reverse direction refer braking torque in reference to vehicle direction, the torques listed are calculated for a vehicle loaded to GVW and making 1.1g forward (with weight transfer) stops and 0.9g reverse (with weight transfer) stops. Torque Specs will be provided by BBB Industries.
d. Cycle – Cycle the torque at a rate of 10 cycles/min for 10,000 cycles, One cycle consist of ten (10) forward and one (1) reverse application. Torque of each cycle must be recorded
e. Torque Loss Check – Record the amount of torque loss experienced for all fastener joints.
f. Breakaway Pressure Check – Record piston breakaway pressure.
2. Acceptance Requirements
a. No fluid leakage during the 10,000 cycles and no cracks or tears detectable present in the caliper, piston, locating pins or anchor bracket.
b. A maximum of 10% loss torque on the caliper guide pin bolts, anchor bolts, bleedscrews and inlet port fitting.
c. The piston must move smoothly in the bore under a pressure of no more than 345 kPa after breakaway. Breakaway pressure must not exceed 1,035 kPa.
